The italian contract furniture company Varaschin launched the brand “View” for a new design collection in the year 2000 and then I was probably the youngest designer to get involved. I proposed to Mr. Varaschin a wall mounted container to be used as a discreet bar furniture, that was originally designed as my entry piece at the Art biennale Big Torino 2000. A wood container with inner polycarbonate shelves bended to create a niche for a little sculpture. The wall unit “Fred” – an hypothetic name of a discreet barman – was optimised and and a fluorescent light was added to cointain alcoholic bottles of different sizes, a few glasses , boxes of cigars and playing cards. This project was selected by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale – for the catalogue “Design Index 2001” among the design entries for the Compasso d’Oro 2002.
