Steps, Vibram.

The “Step” rubber baskets are Niko’s first up-cycling design project. Niko was invited to participate at the exhibition “Intrecci” curated by Anna Deplano and held at the ExMà in Cagliari. A design exhibition on woven design with famous designers like Gio Colombo and Vico Magistretti, and italian historic design companies like Bonacina. The idea of re-using rubber scraps to make a new product was developed thanks to Vibram, the worldwide known italian rubber soles company that provided the rubber scraps to be woven. The result was a couple of baskets that during their craft process naturally took the shape of a shoe sole, thus declaring their industrial back root. Step later inspired the study prototypes of up-cycled rubber baskets and bags developed with Vibram in 2013.
